PULASKI, VA, Nov. 5 2002 Screw and barrel maker Xaloy Inc. has expanded its twin extrusion barrel business with the acquisition of the former Progressive Alloys twin barrel business and assets from Spirex Corp., Youngstown, OH.
Xaloy purchased machinery, customer lists, and existing sales backlog, according to Xaloy vp. Gunther Hoyt. Progressive's facility and six employees will remain with Spirex. The operations of Progressive Alloys, currently based in Lynchburg, VA, will move to Xaloy’s site in Pulaski. The purchase price was not disclosed.
“The twin cylinder assets we are acquiring mesh perfectly with our own components business in twin extrusion," said Hoyt. He added that Xaloy is a leader in twin barrel products for PVC extrusion of siding and profiles. Hoyt said the twin extrusion barrel business represents about 25% of Xaloy's sales in North America.
Spirex president Paul Colby, said the sale was a strategic move to enable Spirex to concentrate on plasticating systems for single extrusion and injection.
No additional personnel will be hired in Pulaski, according to Hoyt.
