The main company in the Group is Gefran Spa, wich designs and manufactures instrumentation and systems for industrial processes. Years of research and of targeted applications have enabled the company to acquire an extremely high level of know-how, and today, as a result, many gefran Spa products are the leaders in their market sector.
This is particularly true of the new series of PLC's and industrial terminals, designed wich characteristics that are at the forefront of technology, and above all with the precise objective of maintaining an equilibrium between the cost of automation and the cost of the plant.
The extensive use of SMT technology gives a lot of advantages for a easy adaption of every type of layout and plant: a high standard of design, optimal integration of functions for each electronic circuit board, extreme modularity and compactness. Gefran products, all conform to the present international directives for safety and electromagnetic EMC compatibility, the quality standard now garanteed by the CE mark, and in a short while also conform to the international UL and CSA marks. All this confirms the picture of a company, Gefran, that not only operates with a quality system certified to ISO 9001, but also is committed to continual improvement of its own design, production and test procedures year by year, by exercising a plan of absolute control.


GEFRAN SENSORI: a young and dynamic presence in the field of pressure, force and temperature transducers, as well as linear and rotary displacement transducers. Today, GEFRAN SENSORI is considered, in its own right, a company at a world level in the field of industrial sensor. A position that has been arrived at in a relatively short time thanks to inspired choices of strategy: the use of innovative design and manufacturing techniques, combined with a refined control of the manufacturing process, exhaustive laboratory trials and testing, constant re-training of the personnel with periodic updates on scientific and technical progress; collaboration with university institutions at the highest level in Italy and in the whole world.
The Research, Development and Manufacturing departments progress each day, thanks to the acquisitions of greater know-how in the field of sensors and the use of equipment that is modern and more advanced. The careful control of product quality and the rigourous analyses are guaranteed right from the first phases of research, by sophisticated equipment such as scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersion microsensor (EDS), and other instruments that are indispensable for the inspection and analysis of materials, components and structures. This and other important factors have contributed in the creation of an advanced capacity to control, as has the acquisition of a complete quality system to ensure ISO 9001 certification of GEFRAN SENSORI.

For this reason, a SIT 11/M laboratory has been installed inside the manufacturing organisation of GEFRAN SENSORI, a structure that is part of the Italian Calibration Service for temperature, relative humidity and pressure measurement, wich has the specific purpose to extend and garantee a common reference to the standard unit in the ambit of the International System (SI).


With more than 25 years of on-site experience, GEFRAN ISI Inc., based in Boston, USA, has been a pioneer in extrusion melt pressure instrumentation becoming a leading supplier of innovative, high quality products and support services designed specifically and exclusively for pressure applications. In May 26, 1999, ISI was acquired by Gefran Group with a 7 million dollar investment (more than 12,8 billion Liras), pursuing the aim of global presence of the Group. ISI, in 1998, achieved a significant turnover of more than 4 million dollars, with 80% made in the U.S. By working together with Gefran Isi, Gefran will now have access to more resources in the areas of Sales & Marketing in the strategic American area, as well as great improvements in the innovative melt pressure field.
