Gearbox Rebuilding - Bearings and Gear Sets / Integrated Lubrication Systems
With over 40 years of experience rebuilding extruder gearboxes, Texas Extrusion Service has become one of the most respected after market rebuilders in operation today. Gear cases are typically disassembled and evaluated the day they arrive with quotations for repairs presented for customer approval the very next day. 3-4 day turnaround times are the norm rather than the exception. In cases where new gears are required, we can provide replacements generally within a few weeks time. We can also offer gear ratio changes, and custom oil cooling systems.
Extruder Rebuilding - Return to the "Like New" Condition
Texas Extrusion Service are experts at reviving those old extruders and turning them into modern, updated machines that add to your profit margin. After we completely disassemble the extruder we will rebuild the gear case, install a new barrel and screw, Install new heaters and cooling system. We will evaluate the motor and drive and update or replace the control panel. What will return to your shop will be a quality piece of equipment fully tested and ready to produce. Most rebuilds are performed for 2/3 of the cost of new, leaving thousands of dollars working for your company.

From L/D conversions capable of running todays complex polymers, to changing your barrel cooling from water to air, Texas Extrusion Service can transform your extruder either in your plant or in our facility. One of the most popular retrofit projects as of late has been installing a new gear case onto your existing extruder. We have replaced countless old and tired gear cases upgraded to withstand the higher demands of todays new feed screw designs.
Feed Section Relining - Bimetallic Liners
We bore your existing feed throat and install a removable, bimetallic liner just like the one in your barrel. We have many different makes and sizes relined and in stock to ease your downtime concerns. We ship your relined throat and you ship your worn throat back.

Borescoping
We have an experienced and professional staff prepared to assist you with your special needs. Optical alignment of your barrel, whether it be because a barrel has been replaced or for preventive maintenance is one the most common requests from our customers. Remember, there is typically only .012 clearance between a 6 barrel and screw, thats only .006 per side, and it does not take much misalignment to cause wear problems. Barrel and screw measurements are usually taken at this time to keep you informed of the condition of your machine. Once the technician has returned, charts of the wear will be sent to you for your records.
Installations and Alignments
Initial alignments of new equipment or equipment being moved are another of the services we offer, ranging from simple wire and cable installations to the very complex cast film and blown film line alignments. We know the importance of a quality installation from the beginning, insuring a smooth start-up and a quality product for your customers.
Stuck Feed Screw Removal
Stuck feeds are, unfortunately, a part of the extrusion business. Pieces of steel, wrong blends or power outages create difficult situations and unwanted downtime all too often.
Our technicians have removed some of the most difficult all over the country, removing some of the strangest objects you could imagine. Typically in one to two days we can have the screw out, the barrel clean and most important of all, your extruder producing again.
Bimetallic Extrusion Barrels
Texas Extrusion Service offers a variety of bimetallic barrels to match any extrusion need from Polyethylene to highly abrasive talc or glass filled polymers, to such corrosive polymers such as PVC and Fluoroploymers. Our technicians are available to blueprint barrels and feed screws on site if drawings are not readily available.
Custom Control Panels
Texas Extrusion Service Inc. can bring your extrusion control needs up to date by either retrofitting your existing panel or offering a complete new system. Our capabilities extend from the simplest of panels using individual controllers to state of the art PLC based systems capable of operating entire lines from one touch screen. We can build a system tailor made to your specific needs and requirements. Our highly trained staff has the many years of electrical experience needed to provide solutions to your control needs.

Feed Screw Rebuilding
Whether broken or simply worn out, we can restore your screws to original manufacturer specifications, usually in a matter of weeks. While we have your screw we can also evaluate its current design and performance and offer suggestions to increase output or enhance the quality of your finished product.
New Screws
As more complex polymers are developed and introduced into todays marketplace, the need for innovative screw designs has increased.
