Welcome to the revolutionary Conex® extrusion technology!
Conex® is a unique extrusion equipment and process, which replaces at the same time an extrusion head and several extruders, enabling multi-layer extrusion with a single compact machine.
You want to offer new extruded products to your market and benefit from the advantages of the Conex® extrusion technology such as:
* fibre orientation
* cross-oriented layers
* seamless products
* short residence time of the extruded polymers
* on-line mixing
* and many more...

echnology

After the first patent in 1989, the technology has been continuously developed in universities then in the Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT). In 1995, a co-operation development project with industrials like NK Cables, Uponor and Nextrom, led the technology to industrial applications. In 1999, Conex® started the first commercial production of pipe and in 2000 the first commercial production in cable.
Conex® provides advantages in other application fields like film, soft tube packaging, blow moulding...

About Conex Technologies S.A.
Nextrom Holding S.A. acquired all the basic patents of the Conex® technology in 1999 and created in 2001 a subsidiary: Conex Technologies S.A.
Conex Technologies S.A. is now the licensor company of the Conex® patented technology.
The company does not manufacture cone-extruders for sale, but organises the commercial exploitation of its IPR through collaborative R&D, joint development and licensing. It generates revenue from licensee fees, royalties and consulting fees related to its licensing business.
The company maintains a network of partners and licensees that grows continuously. It provides business support and services to facilitate the development and commercialisation of the technology in as much applications as possible.
You want to know more about our network or the technology, do not hesitate to contact us. We can organise extrusion trials with your materials on one of the demo lines of our licensees or lead customers.

Technology

After the first patent in 1989, the technology has been continuously developed in universities then in the Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT). In 1995, a co-operation development project with industrials like NK Cables, Uponor and Nextrom, led the technology to industrial applications. In 1999, Conex® started the first commercial production of pipe and in 2000 the first commercial production in cable.
Conex® provides advantages in other application fields like film, soft tube packaging, blow moulding...

Advantages

The main advantages of the technology lie in the possibility to extrude new products with:

* oriented fibre
* cross-oriented layers (LCP, barrier zones)
* no seam when forming the product
* short residence time of extruded polymers
* on-line mixing (mixing and extrusion at the same time with good dispersion).

You can extrude an up to 6-layer product using a very compact cone-extruder with less than 5 square meter footprint and moreover save up to 15% energy.

Concept

The concept is radically different from a traditional extrusion group. A short conical rotor turning between two conical stators (inner and outer) has replaced the traditional extrusion screw. Spiral grooves are located on the inner and outer surface of the rotor as well as on the surface of each stator facing the grooved one of the rotor. A die is fixed to the inner and outer stator.
With a 1-rotor machine, one can extrude a 2-layer product, with a 2-rotor machine, a 4-layer product, with a 3-rotor machine, a 6-layer product as you can simulate below:
