Dual Spiral Systems Extrusion Dies Our Dual Spiral System (DSS) modular co-extrusion die, divides polymer flow from the extruder into two layers thus doubling the number of layers in the die. In this way, a 5-extruder die would in fact produce 10-layer film. The DSS' new layer division with temperature isolation gap between layers has been shown to substantially reduce gauge deviation, increase output and reduce residence time. Dual Spiral Systems Inc. is the only suppliers of co-extrusion dies with layer division technology. The DSS is best suited to blown film, blow molding, tubing, and wire coating applications but numerous other areas are under development.
