Amstat Industries, Inc. focuses on providing solutions to the problems that static electricity creates. We are fortunate that we can provide the best static control devices available, using passive devices, high voltage electric ionizers, nuclear ionizers, anti-static chemicals, and conductive materials, with the customer's problems and conditions determining which is the preferred solution. We do not approach a static problem with a bias of one solution over another, since our product line is not limited to one type or the other.
We use an ABC approach to determine the best solutions for our customers' static problems.
A. Define the problem the static electricity causes.
B. Define the location of the problem (which may not be where the static is generated).
C. Determine which device is best used immediately at or in front of the problem location.
In general terms, and there are exceptions, we will suggest passive devices for low cost, for dropping high static charges to low or moderate levels, or as a temporary expedient. Active devices (nuclear and electrical) create ionization to "go after" a static charge. Nuclear devices are often used (1) in hazardous areas, (2) where portability, size, or radio frequency interference should be considered, or (3) when balanced ionization is mandatory. Electrical ionizers provide reasonably priced long lasting equipment. Fan blowing devices are often used to remove static from 3-dimensional parts or at a distance, while compressed air units can be used at a distance or for removing particulate while neutralizing a static charge. Anti-staticchemicals provide a more permanent solution.
