AXYZ International was founded in 1990 as a machinery service company, primarily servicing, selling and installing CNC machinery including several brands of CNC routers. We repaired CNC machinery whenever and wherever we could find a job. It was a lot of work, a lot travel, and a lot of fun.
In 1992 AXYZ began developing software and controllers to provide upgrade and retrofit services. The founding partners divided the work between their skill sets. One utilizing his engineering background, became more involved in software and electronic design while the other developed sales skills. They both continued to do service and installations of machines but we began to add some more service people.
In 1994 we moved from Mississauga to Burlington. A mechanical engineer joined the company and AXYZ began building CNC router tables from a 3000 square foot facility. In our first year we built 10 machines and we were in the manufacturing business! The manufacturing business grew quickly while we built a sales and service force and built up the engineering and production teams. By 1998 we were manufacturing over 100 machines a year and had 17,000 square feet of production space scattered in three locations. Our global reach was beginning to take shape as well. We had direct Sales and Service locations in Burlington, Quebec, and the UK.
In 1998 we consolidated the three locations into one 48,000 square foot factory in east Burlington where we are today. We currently have the capacity to manufacture in excess of 500 machines per year in one shift of operations.
The years since 2000 have seen AXYZ expand to a number of sales locations around North America and the world. In April 2006 we acquired Pacer Systems Inc in Nottingham UK to add another style of CNC router system to our product offering. Pacer is a 30 year old company and one of the pioneers of CNC router machines in the world. Pacer Systems has built and installed more than 1000 CNC router systems. The high accuracy ball screw driven CNC Router systems that Pacer innovated are amongst the most accurate CNC routers in the industry and are supported across the world by the AXYZ International Support group.
In October 2007 we acquired Camtech International of Calgary, Alberta. Camtech was also one of the innovators in affordable CNC Routers, having shipped their first machines in the mid 1980s. The Camtech acquisition brought with it a large installed base of CNC routers and large format laser engraving machines, as well as the engineering behind innovative products such as the Spacemaker the only vertically oriented CNC Router, and the LaserMaster line of engraving lasers.
We currently operate three factories with by far the largest in Burlington. We also operate the Pacer factory in Nottingham, UK as well as a small assembly facility in Gdynia, Poland. We operate 11 primary sales and service operations known as Application Development Centers (ADCs) in Burlington ON, Montreal QC, Calgary AB, Vancouver BC, Cincinnati OH, Atlanta GA, Yorba Linda CA, Birmingham UK, Nottingham UK, Katowice Poland, and Bangalore India.
From the beginning, we have operated in multiple vertical industry markets. While the industries change from time to time, we have maintained a market / customer focused approach to Sales and Marketing. Our focus on the customer and their applications allows AXYZ to be dynamic in our ability to respond to market challenges as well as allowing us to develop expertise in new industries much faster than our competition.
Due to the diverse nature of our customer base, we offer many standard / custom solutions. One our great strengths is in our capability to engineer, manufacture and deliver CNC Router solutions in delivery times that are the shortest in the industry.
