Extruders Even though Welex is best known as the world's leading supplier of outstanding sheet extrusion systems, we supply extruders for many other applications. Welex Mark I extruders come in sizes from 1-1/4" to 3-1/2" (30 mm to 90 mm). We think of these as our general purpose extruders because they are used to extrude so many different products. Mark I extruders typically feature a versatile belt drive system and include high capacity air cooling. Best of all, we build these in sub-assembly fashion for quick delivery. Welex Mark III high performance extruders range from 2-1/2" to 10" (65 mm to 250 mm) in diameter, and can be ordered in 24:1 to 40:1 L/D ratios. Built for the most demanding applications, these extruders are designed with direct coupled drives, and usually include positive closed loop liquid cooling. Mark III machines have fixed ratio, high torque reducers. Coextruders of all sizes are supplied with modular feedblocks for new and existing extrusion lines. Gear Pumps We are the only extruder manufacturer who build their own gear pumps, and we are pleased to offer these as retrofits for all makes of extruders. Sheet Extrusion Systems Welex is the world's foremost builder of sheet extrusion systems. We serve the packaging and industrial markets with lines from 30" (750 mm) to over 10 feet (3 meters) wide, with capacities from 300 lbs/hr (150 kgs/hr) to over 4 tons/hour. In-line systems are available for a wide variety of thermoforming applications, including energy efficient hot-sheet systems for dedicated packaging lines. Custom compact in-line systems are adaptable to any new or existing thermoforming installation. Welex developed sheet coextrusion over 30 years ago, and today we build complete systems for all applications using our own well proven modular technology. We can supply turnkey systems for simple two layer structures, as well as for sophisticated seven or nine layer high barrier structures. Beyond that, our friendly and highly trained field service team will help turn our promises into your profits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ World Standard Sheet Lines World Standard sheet lines are the most complete, high performance, reliable sheet lines money can buy. We offer them as complete pre-packaged systems in 3 sizes: with a 3½" (90mm), 4½" (120mm), or 6" (150mm) extruder, to produce just the capacity you need. Each includes a Welex Mark III extruder with powerful precision motor, digital controls, vacuum venting, screen changer, gear pump, static mixer, and a flexible lip die. Your extruder can be equipped with the computer designed screw of your choice, including the exclusive Welex Universal screw for HIPS, PP, and vented PET. For this wide range of the most commonly extruded polymers, this avoids the need for screw changes. The take-off features three hard surface polishing rolls with flawless mirror chrome plating, designed for the highest efficiency heat transfer. Each roll is equipped with an individual, built-in, high volume pressurized water temperature control system. The World Standard take-off also includes edge-trimming and an integral two shaft winder. The smaller line includes an edge trim winding system. The larger lines incorporate centerless turret winders for ease of high speed operation.
