Known for our outstanding quality of single screw extruders, and willingness to satisfy the smallest detail of customer extrusion requirements, Telford Smith Engineering have since gone from strength to strength.
We manufacture a full range of custom built extruders and new screws, barrels, tiebars and parts as well as complete or partial reconditioning of screws, barrels, tiebars or extrusion, injection and blow moulding machines. 
And we have the capability to handle the most urgent repairs.  We have created the largest, fully equipped workshop, and offer the most comprehensive range of manufacturing and support services in Australasia dedicated to the plastics industry.

Telford Smith Engineering manufacture replacement barrels, as well as recondition your existing barrels, for injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion, these can be nitrided or Xaloy bimetallic lined. 

Xaloy bimetallic barrels can be offered with varying properties to counteract wear, corrosion or a combination of these particular factors. Delivery end termination can be manufactured to suit existing adaptors, for example, Vee flange, round flange drilled or tapped, or screw cut for connection of a screenchanger.
All drilling and tapping for thermocouples, melt pressure and rupture plugs are included.

Telford Smith Engineering manufacture replacement screws, as well as recondition your existing screws, for injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion.

This allows our team of design engineers to produce the optimum screw profile to suit you process, supported by accurate values relating to expected performance, before even stepping onto the manufacturing floor.

Injection & Blow Moulding
We manufacture screws for both thermoplastic and thermosets, standard metering design or QLT for improved melt homogeneity and mixing. These can be hard faced, nitrided or hardened and nitrided with optional hard chrome plating available. Telford Smith Engineering Have the capacity to manufacture injection moulding screws ranging in size from 25mm up to 200mm in diameter.

Whether you are manufacturing containers for packaging, duct joints for air conditioning or automotive components, we have a screw design available to suit your process for LDPE, HDPE, PP, PVC etc.

Extrusion
Telford Smith Engineering is the largest and by far the oldest manufacturer of extrusion screws in Australasia. Our designs cover all facets of the extrusion industry from thermoplastics to natural and synthetic rubber. We have a 60 year plus record in this industry from which we have built up significant data, soundly based on experience and results.

Screw construction is hard faced, nitrided or hardened & nitrided, for highly abrasive materials we can supply screws with Tungsten carbide coatings on the flight flanks and core diameters, or in the case of highly corrosive polymers such as Fluoropolymer a Duranickle based screw is offered.

Designs are available for single flight metering screws, single barrier screws, double barrier screws, variable pitch flights, multi start flights and slotted flights. Two stage screws for vented extruders are also offered.

Mixing sections, the more common of which, include Maddock (spiral or straight), Hoechst, dulmage, pinned, pineapple or combinations of these designs are available.

Our capacity ranges from 25mm up to 200mm depending on L/D ratio.
