FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
Question 1. What temperature do the parts reach during coating?
Answer: Thermal spraying unlike welding is essentially a cold process and will not distort the part.
Careful arrangement of cooling jets on the component ,combined with surface speed of the part do not allow the part temperature to go above 150oC.
Question 2. What base materials can be coated?
Answer: Most metallic base materials can be coated and it can be possible under special circumstances to coat some plastics. Consideration obviously needs to be given to part loading particularly concerning point loads.
Question 3. Will the coating fall off the part?
Answer: Coatings technology has taken great strides forward in the last 10 years and with the wide spread use of High Velocity Processes the coating bond strength has also significantly increased.
Spray Fuse coatings and many heat teated high performance coatings are now diffusion bonded to the base material giving virtually indestructable coatings.
