Background and Company History
The Dupps Company designs, builds and installs high quality process equipment and systems. We are the world's largest manufacturer of rendering equipment used to recycle animal protein by-products. This equipment is sold to a customer base throughout North America, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
The Company also manufactures equipment for a variety of other industries including, pulp and paper, agriculture (oil seeds, cocoa, etc.), and industries requiring equipment manufactured under ASME Section VIII code requirements.
The DUPPS I-SERVE TEAM now offers a broad range of manufacturing and maintenance services, including the ability to repair or even completely rebuild certain types of critical equipment in-house at Dupps or in-place at customer facilities in as little as four days. We've been performing on-site disassembly, welding, machine and re-assembly of equipment for over a decade.
Dupps has a staff of about 175 employees. The engineering and design groups consist of Project Management, Mechanical Design, Fluids Design, Process/Thermal Design and Electrical/Controls departments. The various departments are staffed with degreed Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical engineers.
Dupps maintains its position as a leader in the design and manufacture of process machinery by 1) listening to our customer's needs and expectations, and 2) providing solutions based on state-of-the-art technology and excellence in engineering. We accomplished this by applying the highest quality engineering principles and practices, by regularly upgrading the training of our employees, and by utilizing the best available computer and analytical tools, including AutoCAD-14, Mechanical Desktop 3-D CAD System, Ansys Finite Element Modeler, and yet other productivity enhancing tools.
-History and Evolution of the Company
The Dupps family began their history in the meat packing and rendering industry in 1886 when John J. Dupps joined the Cincinnati Butcher's Supply Company (CBS) in Cincinnati, Ohio. John was eventually joined in the business by his son, John J. Dupps Jr.
John J. Dupps, Jr. left CBS at the age of 39 to start the John J. Dupps company on December 6,1935. John Jr. had a dream of developing and manufacturing an improved dry rendering process and furthering the "state of the art technology" for rendering process machinery.
The sales of the Dupps Dry Rendering process combined with a complete line of packing house equipment generated rapid growth, and by 1939 the company's need for expansion required a larger manufacturing facility. One was found in nearby Germantown, Ohio where Dupps' engineering, manufacturing and administrative offices are still headquartered.
In the years that followed, the Company eventually moved away from its role as a supplier of meat packing house equipment in order to focus all its resources on becoming the world's major supplier of rendering equipment. In 1950, the Company- now under the direction of John Jr.'s son, John A. Dupps- changed its name to "The Dupps Company" to reflect its newly focused mission.
The Dupps company pioneered many innovations that led to improved product quality, reduced processing time, and lower cost production. These include the development of the first commercially successful Continuous Rendering System- still the state of the art for Rendering processing today.
With its commitment to developing new and improved methods and technology for the Rendering Industry, Dupps became known as the company with "the most firsts".
Today, Dupps remains a privately held company and is now led by the three sons of John A. Dupps: John A. Dupps Jr., Frank N. Dupps and David M. Dupps.
Since 1935, each new generation of leadership has advanced the company's mission of developing the highest quality state of the art equipment for Rendering and other industries requiring process machinery for separating fat/oils, water and solids.
The Dupps Company has achieved its goal of being the world's major supplier of Rendering equipment, and maintains this position by offering the most advanced systems combined with superior customer service. Today we employ our capabilities to serve other industries with a variety of manufacturing and maintenance service offerings.
