In 1873, Frank Black and Linus Clawson teamed up to grind rolls for the Miami Paper Valley in Ohio. Soon after, they ventured into the paper machine business, installing their first line at a small mill in Rockdale, Ohio - and marking the birth of the Black Clawson Company. In less than 10 years, the young company was exporting equipment throughout the country and the world.

In 1940, Black Clawson purchased the Dilts Machine Shop in Fulton, NY. Dilts was founded in 1867 by Frank Dilts as a machine shop for the expanding paper industry. By 1946, the Dilts division was manufacturing the first converting equipment for the production of wax paper.

Over the years, Black Clawson has pioneered over 70 converting and pelletizing firsts, including: the first rubber extruders, the first converting line to make wax paper, the first reverse roll coater, the first micro pelletizing system, and the first coating lines for video and computer tape.

Today Black Clawson is one of the world's leading converting and pelletizing machinery manufacturers. But it still operates on the philosophies and principles that Peter and Linus established years ago:

1. To set new standards.
2. To answer customer needs.
3. To build nothing less than superior quality converting equipment.

Put it all together and you have the one and only company that can deliver the world's most advanced converting machinery along with the industry's most comprehensive support system.
