Troester Extruders
Troester offers EP Extruders for processing plastics, GS and PIN type Extruders for processing rubber materials. Troester extruders offer outstanding production quality at high output rate with excellent linearity.
* Extruders for Plastics (EP Series)
* Rubber Extruders (GS/k, GS/w, GS/v-vak, QSM PIN Series)
* Extruder-Gear Pump Combination (ZP)
* Shearing head (SK)
Extruders for Plastics (EP Series)
EP extruders are used for the insulation and sheathing of electrical wires and cables. EP extruders are also used to sheath copper and steel tubing. Special materials can be processed in addition to well-known materials such as PVC, PE, PA, PUR, PP, FRM, XLPE, Si-PE, and EPR. Extruder barrel lengths range between 20 D and 42 D according to the application. EP Extruders are fitted with powerful air blowers for cooling and heater bands as standard. Depending on the application, the temperature control system may also use liquids, i.e. oil or water. Normally, Troester Extruders are driven by infinitely variable DC motors with thyristor control. Asynchronous motors may also be fitted if requested by the customer. Extruder control is via a modular automation system, which is custom-assembled to individual specifications and which controls, regulates and optimizes the extruder either as a single unit, or as part of a total system. Troester offers an extensive range of extruder accessories, such as screw transport trolleys, removal devices etc. For special applications height adjustable static and moveable vertical screw extruders are available. Rubber Extruders
* GS Series Extruders
GS Type Extruders are used for rubber processing applications. Depending on the application, Troester can supply the right GS Extruder: cold feed (GS-k), hot feed (GS/w) and vertical (GSV) extruders. The GS Series also includes vacuum (GS-vak) and pin-type extruders (QSM).

* QSM PIN Type Extruders
QSM Extruders are used for manufacturing tires, gaskets, hoses and conveyor belts. The marked difference lies in the combination of screw and barrel, which depending on the application, is equipped with up to 12 rows of pins. The pins, made from special steel, eliminate a problem which leads to a noticeable drop in throughput and extrudate quality in the operation of large, conventional cold-feed extruders. Due to temperature and viscosity differences, where no material exchange occurs between neighboring compound layers, ?islands? form in the rotating flow between the screw flights. These layers insulate themselves from one another, thus preventing proper mixing of the extrudate. The QSM pins, which are inserted through the barrel from the outside, divide the flow rubber, invert it and mix the layers with one another. In most cases the screw of a QSM Extruder is made of nitrated steel although for some applications other special steels may also be used. In order to better protect the highly-stressed external surfaces of the screw flights from wear, for example when abrasive compounds are processed, these may be coated with extremely hard armored plating.
Extruder-Gear Pump Combination (ZP)
In combination with a GS, QSM or vacuum extruder, the gear pump enhances the Troester extruder and allows it to work at the highest levels of accuracy and quality. The compound is plastified in the extruder and fed into the gear pump under low intake pressure. The gear pump?s intake pressure regulates the speed of the extruder so that the gear pump is always completely filled. A screen can be located in front of the gear pump if needed to filter out foreign objects and can thus replace any strainer needed in production before the extruder head. The combination of extruder and gear pump is thus advantageous in the case of particularly difficult process requirements. These can include maintaining the lowest output variations and product dimension tolerances, and avoiding flooding the vacuum zone as well as avoiding poor output-temperature relationships at high die pressure.
Shearing head (SK)
Just before giving the last shape to the rubber compound, shearing strain is applied to it at intervals in order to reach the vulcanization temperature. That interval is between barrel and rotating mandrel. Mandrel rotating speed varies and can be adjusted automatically to stabilize the mixing temperature. Temperature is measured at output of shearing interval. Temperature is precisely controlled through the mandrel and barrel?s small water cubicles. In order to prevent leakage from mandrel side to the motor, PE film dilution is fed thorough the gap. The Troester shearing head is equipped with bimetal leak proof materials and PE granule dosing units. Multi-step gearbox conducts the shearing mandrel to be able to adapt itself to the rubber mixing and producing conditions. The Shearing head can be opened easily and taken out together with the mandrel and gearbox from the barrel.
