EXTRUD7-2000

(Go to web site for graphics related to this text)
The first CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tool for extrusion and injection plastification.  Developed over the course of 30 years of research into extrusion, it is the most accurate model of this complex process in action.  EXTRUD7-2000 opens up the extruder to give you immediate answers to your daily extrusion questions.

The many uses of EXTRUD7-2000 include:

Optimize operating conditions by testing hundreds of barrel temperature profiles by simulation.

Reduce your development costs of new processes using EXTRUD7-2000 to run your experiments on different resins and products.

Cut capital expenses - With simulation, you are able to evaluate different size extruders and new screw types quickly.  Choose the correct equipment you need.

Tighten corporate secrecy and get the jump on your competition.  With all development work performed in-house on computer, no outsiders can learn of your latest process improvements before they come to market.
The best way to understand how the computer can help you solve extrusion problems is to see EXTRUD7-2000 in action.

Following is a typical extrusion simulation. Input data required includes:

Resin Properties: Viscosity vs. shear rate and temperature. Density, melting point, thermal properties. Enter your own material or choose from a database of over 5000 polymer resins.

Equipment Design:  Physical specifications of the extruder and screw.

Operating Conditions:  Machine operation, barrel temperature profile, etc.

Over 250 variables can be easily entered and modified at just the touch of your keyboard. Our  comprehensive user interface makes changing your extrusion process quick.

No more waiting for barrel temperatures to settle or wasted production time.

The opening files list of EXTRUD7-2000 helps you keep track of all your extrusion lines. Combining real data with simulated information gives you a realistic overview of all your extrusion processes. Get a look at your day-to-day processing economics and then simulate new ways to increase output.

Forms make even difficult processing changes easy. Our new templates feature, allows you to save and retrieve line data by pointing and clicking.

Designed by extrusion experts, EXTRUD7-2000 is the most powerful diagnostic tool available for evaluating your extrusion processes. From easy data entry and optimized algorithms to dramatic graphics and data handling, everything is contained in only one powerful package. Get quick answers to your extrusion questions.

The following graphics were generated by EXTRUD7-2000. This report provides you with a complete analysis of the extrusion process as well as a comparative analysis to previous experiments.

Three methods of evaluation are provided. They are:

1) Spreadsheet

These spreadsheets give you a tabular look inside the extruder. Multiple experiments can be     viewed simultaneously.  Data files stored in Microsoft Excel compatible format can be easily viewed and edited in our own Workbook designer.

2) Screw Tour

Our simulation provides a graphical tour of the extrusion process. A simulated AFreezing experiment@ provides you with a unique look at the process which allows you to envision a glass barrel on your extruder.

3) Graphical Analysis

Powerful graphs are generated, allowing you to look at the many facets of the extrusion process. A complete overview is provided with:

Melt Temperature                                 Pressure                          Product Quality

Power Consumption                              Viscosity                          Heat Flow

. . . and many other parameters

Multiple simulations can also be graphed together in order to chart sensitivity of your extrusion process to any of over 250 variables.

Spreadsheet Analysis

Data generated by EXTRUD-2000 is directly linked to our own spreadsheet system. The complete extrusion process is presented in detail. As material enters from the hopper all the way through to the extruder and even into the die, all information is contained in easy to use Excel compatible spreadsheets for quick analysis.

Compare multiple experiments on one spreadsheet. Add graphics. Annotate the data. EXTRUD-2000 gives you a clear look inside the Ablack box@ of the extrusion process.

Screw Tour

Look inside your extruder barrel with graphics automatically generated by EXTRUD7-2000. This simulated freezing experiment shows the cross-section of the extruder during processing.

In this case we are looking at 40 inches along this 2.5 inch diameter screw. We can clearly see that there are still 7.2% solids (X/W=0.072) in the channel.  This material must be melted prior to it exiting the extruder.

Extrud7-2000 shows you the entire screw profile allowing you to pinpoint problem spots.  You can quickly evaluate new Barrel Temperatures, Screw Speeds, Materials and Screw Designs by pressing a few key strokes on your computer.

Over 100 different graphs are available in order to give a clear, concise look at your extrusion process. Multiple simulations can be graphed simultaneously in order to provide a clear picture of the sensitivity of your process to changes in operation, materials or equipment.

Choose from standard XY plots to powerful business and statistical graphics. All output can be printed in full color or saved to file for use by presentation programs. Our graphics package can also be used separately for adding your own data or other information as needed.

Graphs such as Power and Gear ratio graphics are preconfigured in order to quickly get you the information you need. See the efficiency of your process in graphic detail.
