When we were founded in 1970, Century Specialties focused on manufacturing dies and mandrels in Wyandotte, MI. We moved our operation to Traverse City, MI in 1974 and since have become a leading supplier of tooling, heat treating services, extrusion replacement parts, twin-screw extruders and rollform tooling. NEW AND EXCLUSIVE! In 2001, Century began a new division, Century 3+ LLC, which services and manufactures the revolutionary 3+ RingExtruder for North and South America. This patented twelve-screw extruder is an exciting alternative to the traditional single- and twin-screw extruder and offers many unique possibilities for future extrusion applications.
CENTURY SPECIALTIES initially manufactured mandrels and dies for the pilger mill tooling market and later expanded into mill roll tooling, making us a comprehensive steel tooling supplier. As the plastics market evolved, we continued to expand our tooling manufacturing capabilities and are now known as North America's largest manufacturer of twin-screw replacement shafts, screw elements, barrels and accessory parts. Century Specialties offers an extensive parts inventory, customized inventory programs, and a 24/7 customer service hotline. We are proud to be ISO 9001:2000 certified.
CENTURY EXTRUDERS manufactures twin-screw extruders in sizes ranging from 25-133mm. We have a comprehensive extrusion lab as well as a new plastics properties lab, so test results can be immediately analyzed and interpreted.
CENTURY SUN METAL TREATING offers extensive heat treating services including vacuum, salt, carburizing, ion, and induction. We've recently added a deep salt line to our facility and can now harden parts up to 110". Century Sun is ISO 9001:2000 certified.
CENTURY ROLLFORMING is the newest addition to the Century family and provides extensive rollforming services including tooling, machine rebuilds and technical support. We have a tryout rollformer that has a capacity of 24 stations for complex cross-sectional geometry and up to 36" rollspaces for wide-type parts.

Machine Refurbishing - Before...
Regardless of how good preventative maintenance procedures are, extruders tend to end up abused. An economical option for returning a well-used extruder back into a useful production tool is machine refurbishing. At Century, we're capable of all levels of refurbishment -- from gearbox upgrades to complete machine refurbishment. In fact, we regularly convert W&P ZSK extruders to High Speed/High Torque Super Compounders with increased horsepower and throughput.
Gearbox retrofits are also common practice. When your gearbox begins to show its age, consider replacing it with a "state-of-the-art" Eisenbeiss gearbox from Century. We'll measure your extruder, engineer the retrofit design and perform a comprehensive installation process at your facility, thus saving time, frustration and production hours by minimizing extruder downtime.

After a complete machine refurbishment, Century Extruders turned this CX-30 into a nearly-new piece of equipment. When budgets are tight, extruder refurbishment is an economical way to provide your company with a fully functional piece of extrusion equipment.
Analytical Materials Testing Laboratory
An Extrusion lab isnt complete without a materials testing facility -- that's why Century Extruders built one. Our new facility is equipped with everything necessary for comprehensive plastic property testing, including an injection molder, viscometer, moisture analyzer, tensiometer with environmental chamber, ash furnace, microscope, microtome and impact tester with environmental chamber.
The use of our Materials Testing Laboratory is included with any extrusion trials run. But, even for those not running trials in our lab, we can still provide analytical property testing of samples. Just supply us the sample, and we'll analyze it and return a comprehensive report with your material's performance specifications according to the industry ASTM Standards.
And with this new facility, trials results can now be interpreted immediately, allowing significant time savings benefits to be realized. For more detail, refer to the Quality Assurance Lab Brochure below.
