The New GENCA

 The world is constantly being reshaped by forces like globalization and new technologies. Manufacturers of rubber and plastic tubing and insulated wire and cable are being forced to change with it.

 At the new GENCA, there is a whole new commitment to quality, service and cost.  Our mission is to combine the latest in state-of-the-art crosshead and in-line extrusion die technology with the most highly skilled and knowledgeable people and high-tech manufacturing methods in order to offer the fastest, most reliable and cost-effective solutions in the industry.

GENCA has over 60 years of experience in the design and manufacture of extrusion tooling.

GENCA was formed in 1940 to design and develop extrusion tools for wire and cable applications.  Over these 60+ years, GENCA has developed and supplied many thousands of  extrusion tools to satisfy  the needs of medical, tube, pipe, wire, cable and consumer product manufacturers.  GENCA was also  a pioneer in developing special machining techniques, material treatments and material finishes which have earned it the leadership position in extrusion tool design and manufacturing.

 In June 2001, SPN Tech LLC acquired GENCA and Drawbaugh.

 Our Customer Service Engineers are professionals with hands-on experience in extrusion. They can analyze your requirements and recommend solutions and products to satisfy your needs.

 Engineering 
 Our highly skilled and experienced   engineers begin their task by examining the shape you want to extrude,taking into account its diameter,thickness, materials of construction, number of layers and other variables.  From this data, they prepare detailed drawings of your extrusion head and tooling utilizing state-of-the-art CAD/CAM systems.     

    Manufacturing

Skilled toolmakers machine all parts to their exact engineering dimensions using the latest CNC and EDM equipment.  After machining, they are heat treated to a specified hardness, then ground and polished to precise tolerances.                                                                 
Our experience with a wide variety of manufacturers' equipment, coupled with a well-known and respected process, engineering and manufacturing capability, positions GENCA to provide you with the high level of service and performance required in today's dynamic business environment.

Many products are available from GENCA .
All of these products are available in designs and materials suitable to extrude any plastic, rubber, high temperature plastics and filled plastics.

Over 60+ years, GENCA has led the field in innovations and has developed thousands of extrusion tools and systems.  GENCA routinely undertakes development of new extrusion tools.

1.      Crossheads

GENCA supplies crossheads for “sub-millimeter” to over 20 inches for extruded products in a variety of materials and designs. 

2.      In-Line Heads

GENCA supplies in-line heads for 1/2” to over 10 inches for extruded products in a variety of materials and designs. 

3.      Purge Valves

GENCA supplies manual and pneumatically operated purge valves.  GENCA purge valves feature adjustable pressure/flow characteristics. This "simulates" the crosshead at running conditions.

4.      Flange Connections & Clamps

GENCA supplies flanges and clamps for most extruders and GENCA extrusion heads. 

5.      Quick Color Change Systems

GENCA supplies Quick Color Change (QCC) Systems that are hydraulically, pneumatically or manually operated.  These are available in “no purge/no waste” and “purge to floor” configurations. 

6.      Tips, Dies, Pins & Bushings and Spare Parts

GENCA designs and manufactures extrusion tools for simple round products to complex multi-lumen, multi-layer products.  GENCA stocks a large inventory of common tips, dies and crosshead parts. 

7.      Breaker Plates

GENCA supplies a wide variety of breaker plate designs, including  replacements for most OEM’s. 

8.      Extrusion and Injection Screws, Barrels & Check Valves

GENCA can supply screws from under 1/2” diameter up to 18” diameter and 30 feet long, and barrels up to 12” diameter.  For more details, see section “Screws, Barrels and Check Valves”. 

9.      Swing Gates, Tables and Clamps

GENCA supplies a wide variety of designs of swing gates and clamps.  Tables are available for GENCA’s larger (heavier) heads.  These tables support heads during positioning, cleaning, assembly and disassembly.  Many of these have hydraulic assist designs. 

10. Heaters, Thermocouples, Rupture Discs

GENCA stocks a large number of heaters, thermocouples and rupture disks for its most popular heads which allows for quick delivery. 

11. Copper Mesh

GENCA stocks copper mesh which is used for cleaning extrusion tools.

 Plant Profiling (Part Ordering Made Easy)

GENCA offers “plant profiling” : our Sales Engineer will analyze your extrusion lines and produce a parts list for ordering.  This eliminates searching for part numbers and makes it easier to order parts.  Ask your Sales Engineer for details.

No-Charge Operator Training

GENCA offers no-charge operator training at its facility in Florida on the care and use of GENCA extrusion products.

No-Charge Process Consulting

GENCA’s experienced Sales Engineers have many years of process experience and may have solved a similar problem in the past.  Feel free to discuss your project/process problem with your Sales Engineer.

On-Site Process Consulting

GENCA’s on-site consulting/troubleshooting is available.  Ask your Sales Engineer for details.

Rebuilding Crossheads and Parts

GENCA offers rebuilding of expensive crossheads and other parts.  Generally, this can save 50% to 70% of the cost of new.

Urgent Requests

GENCA offers rush service on urgent needs; i.e., two to three day service on the repair of a broken screw, screws stuck in barrel, etc.

Extrusion Lab for R&D

GENCA maintains an extrusion lab with three extruders.  This lab is available on a fee basis to our customers for their product development.  During this period, customer engineers are able to interact with our process and design engineers to refine the process or tools.  Also, GENCA will provide quick turnaround on modifications to tooling during this phase of R&D.  Ask your Sales Engineer for details.

W & C  EXTRUSION CROSSHEADS

All extrusion crossheads and tools are available in stainless steel, high-temperature steel (Inconel) and high-strength tool steel, except the TRI-DIE. Other metals are available as special. Metallurgy of all crossheads is controlled through heat treatment to obtain optimum life.
* All melt flow channels, spiral, multi-channels or tapered are precision designed and manufactured to obtain balanced flow over full range of operation.
* Assembly/disassembly tool kit is available for all extrusion crossheads.
* All extrusion crossheads are assembled by Quality Assurance, checked for compliance to engineering acceptance specifications and certified in the User's Manual.
* Genca also offers trade-in on certain used crossheads and can rebuild Genca crossheads.
* Crossheads for products greater than 7" to 20" are available, but are manufactured on special order. 
TOOLING FOR W & C 
* Genca has been developing extrusion tools for wire and cable applications for over 60 years and has a highly-skilled and experienced staff of Design Engineers, Process Engineers and Journeymen Toolmakers, supported by state-of-the-art machinery, equipment and engineering software.
* During these 60+ years, Genca has developed thousands of tips and dies from simple single conductor to complex multi-conductors, multi-layer, multi-stripe and special shape constructions. This experience, along with our emphasis on customer service , makes Genca the best source for all your extrusion tools.
* Genca can also supply replacement tools for most OEM crossheads.


Check Valves



        Quick Delivery and Competitive Pricing on Custom and Standard Check Valves

GENCA can provide check valves to help with your most difficult processing problems or applications. Many standard size valves are available in stock or GENCA engineers can assist with your custom design requirements.

GENCA custom designed check valves feature a non-return ring with a reusable retainer and replaceable front seat, check ring and rear seat wear components. They also include a self-cleaning design that allows the plastic melt to flow without obstruction.

4-Piece Free-Flow Valves

The 100% Free-Flow Valve features a replaceable front seat with full ring contact and axial-angular flow slots. Other features include a non-directional check ring and matched shut-off angles. Only premium tool steels with a highly polished finish are used in the manufacture. Special heat treating provides maximum wear and required ductility.

End Caps and Adapters

Replacement end caps for all major injection molding machines can be manufactured in your choice of stainless steel and other material designed for corrosive or abrasive use. Common sizes and application end caps are kept in stock. In addition, GENCA has the resources to design custom end caps to meet new processing demands or applications. GENCA close tolerance end caps and adapters are heat treated (Nitrided), premium tool steels, with highly polished inner surfaces.

Air Operated, Pin Type Shut-Off Nozzles

These advanced nozzles provide fast acting, full flow design that will increase part production and reduce cycle times. They also stop drooling problems. Features include heater bands and thermocouple well for separate zone control and blow back protection. Uses include structural foam applications and they also used as a direct gate into the part.

* Genca standard base material for screws is 4140 heat treated and stress relieved to  28-32 Rc.
* OD of flites is either flame hardened or hard faced with Stellite #6, #12, Colmonoy #56, #83, Tungsten Carbide or Coltung.
* Other hard facings can be provided as specified.
* Other common base materials are Hastelloy,
Stainless Steel, AISI D2, Inconel, CPM10V,  17-4PH, etc.
