Conforma Clad Renews Global Supply Agreement with Milacron

New Albany, Indiana – (10 March 2003) Conforma Clad and Milacron have renewed their
supply agreement for at least another 5 years. Under the new agreement, Conforma Clad
will continue to provide its proprietary tungsten carbide cladding for Milacron’s counter-
rotating twin-screw extruder barrels.
The renewal extends the close relationship that Conforma Clad and Milacron first formed in
1998. Jim Abbiati, President of Milacron’s ExtrusionTek Division, commented “We are very
satisfied with our relationship with Conforma Clad. Their tungsten carbide cladding
provides superior wear protection and extends the life of our extruder barrels, providing our
customers with increased productivity and lower overall costs. We will continue to explore
new ways in which we can leverage Conforma Clad’s protection technologies in order to
bring value to our customers.”
“We are extremely pleased to continue our close alliance with Milacron, the industry leader
in plastics processing technologies.” said Mike Harlan, Conforma Clad’s President and
C.O.O. “By combining our wear protection advantages with Milacron’s applications and
process expertise, we enable Milacron’s customers to have the best combination of
technologies and performance. This relationship allows us to focus on our core competency
of providing severe wear solutions, resulting in a win-win situation for both of our companies
and the end customers.”
Conforma Clad’s wear protection, generally recognized as the best available for many
applications, is available for counter-rotating extruder barrels only through Milacron. This
includes barrels for Milacron machines and, through Milacron’s Wear Technologies
Division, replacement barrels for some models of Maplan/Krauss Maffei, and other brands
of counter-rotating extruder machines.
Conforma Clad Inc. is a leading provider of severe wear solutions for applications involving
extreme abrasion, corrosion and erosion, or any combination thereof. Conforma Clad’s
proprietary process uses infiltration brazing to bond tungsten carbide to the base material of
a component, producing a hard, uniform protective cladding that is both extremely wear
resistant and very durable. For the plastic and food industries, Conforma Clad provides
wear resistant extruder barrels, liners, screws, and dies. It is the major supplier of radial
bearings used in directional drilling for oil and gas. Among the products provided for coal-
fired power plants are fan blades and liners and components for burners, pulverizers, and
ash conveyance. Conforma Clad, which has been in operation since 1968, is
headquartered in New Albany, Indiana. For more information visit www.conformaclad.com
